THE CHALLENGE

What is The Sudsy Challenge?

add remove

The Sudsy Challenge is all about raising funds and awareness so that people experiencing homelessness can access free laundry, warm showers, and genuine connections. We ask you to challenge yourself to wear the same clothes for three days, start conversations about homelessness, an raise funds for Orange Sky. By participating in the challenge, you're helping Orange Sky to provide support, care and community for our friends in need.

Why three days, and who is Sudsy?

add remove

It took Orange Sky co-founders, Nic and Lucas three days (and three sets of washing machines and dryers) to get their first laundry van, ‘Sudsy’ working. On day three, a friend named Jordan used the free mobile laundry service and taught Nic and Lucas that while clean clothes were important, it was the conversation and connection that mattered more. As such, we thought it was only fitting to hold the Sudsy Challenge over three days. You can learn more here

When is the challenge?

add remove
The Sudsy Challenge happens in September and you can choose three days that best suit you! Depending on which three days you choose, you’ll be able to get into your clean clothes from 5pm on the last day of the challenge. Along with a fresh set of clothes, we hope that you gain a fresh perspective on what it’s like to be without access to laundry services.

SIGNING UP

How long does registration stay open?

add remove
You will be able to sign up to the challenge right up until the day prior to when you'd like to start your three day challenge Sudsy. However, if you’d like to receive a Sudsy t-shirt, be sure to sign up AND raise your $48 with enough time to receive your shirt in the mail (about 2 weeks).

Can I still participate if I don’t live in Australia?

add remove
Yes, absolutely! If you’re in New Zealand your school or workplace can get involved. If you would like to know more, please get in touch with our team at hello@thesudsychallenge.com. But no matter where you are, we would love you to spread the Orange Sky and Sudsy story far and wide, so please sign up!

Schools are a great place to participate in The Sudsy Challenge! Whether you get your class, year level or the whole school involved, it's a great way to start conversations and help wash away stigmas and perceptions about homelessness. Plus, raising money for an important cause is a great way to teach young people about giving back! Find out more about getting your school involved here

CLOTHING OPTIONS

What should I wear & does it need to be the Sudsy t-shirt?

add remove

Participants who raise $48 will receive their very own Sudsy t-shirt, but it's totally up to you what you wear over the three challenge days! Choose comfort, style or something completely crazy - the more outrageous the outfit, the more conversations you'll start about why you’re wearing it. Be sure to share your Sudsy outfit with us on socials - tag #thesudsychallenge

How do I get my very own Sudsy t-shirt?

add remove

You can get your Sudsy Challenge t-shirt by raising $48! Once you've raised your $48, your shirt will be on it's way to you soon. To allow us enough time to post your shirt, we ask that you raise the required funds sooner rather than later.

What about underwear and showering?

add remove

Look, we don't need to get involved in the finer details of things... We encourage you to set your own rules that you are comfortable with - and remember, The Sudsy Challenge is all about the conversations you start and the funds you raise - more than sticking to any rules.

Absolutely! Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. Receipts are issued automatically to the donor after a donation is made through your challenge page.

How long will fundraising stay open?

add remove

Fundraising stays open until 31 October with our top fundraising prizes decided on 21 October.

How do people donate to my fundraising page?

Upon registering, you’ll create your own fundraising page and be provided with a unique URL. Share this with your friends and family so they can donate directly to your page!

If you choose to share this via Facebook, you may be prompted to create a Facebook Fundraiser. We recommend you do not proceed with this as any donations made through a Facebook Fundraiser cannot be attributed to your Sudsy page.

Where does the money I raise go?

add remove
Great question! All the funds you raise will directly support Orange Sky’s Australian services, providing free laundry, warm showers and the opportunity for conversation and connection. With over 38 locations providing services, we need your help to continue this important service to our friends doing it tough.
